Historic Uniforms
of the Bavarian 2nd Chevauxleger Regiment Taxis
While packing for our house move recently, I came across this set of postcards which depict the history of the Bavarian Chevauxleger Regiment Taxis.

Anton Hoffmann Postcard Envelope

The cover of the envelope containing the postcards states that they are based on originals by Professor Anton Hoffmann of Munich, and published by Ludwig Rath at Regensburg.

If anyone knows more about these postcards or the artist, please e-mail me on: roly_hermans@hotmail.com

Here is a reply I received on 1 May 2001.

Here is an e-mail I received on 1 may 2001 from Dannie Fogleman, Virginia, USA:
"Anton Hoffman is the beginning point for any research of uniforms of the Bavarian Army during the reign of Max Emmanuel from about 1682 to 1725. In about 1905, he produced a portfolio of sixty or so plates called (in English) The Army of the Blue King. There is also a detailed over-sized book which accompanies the plates (which are in black and white). Fortunately, there are also color schematic plates. This set of plates was reprinted in the 1970's and can occasionally be found."
